YSS Case Study Research: Volleyball
Aim: To explore whether a Sport-Specific Yoga program could improve the overall flexibility and core strength of a college volleyball player.
Athlete Profile: A 4th-year college volleyball player, 20, male, aiming to increase mental clarity, shoulder and hamstring flexibility, and core strength.
The Conclusion: I worked with my athlete for 12 weeks. Over this time, he saw increased mobility in his shoulders and hamstrings, increased core strength, and, most importantly, increased concentration and body awareness, both on and off the court.
This assisted in pre-season training, his mental abilities, and his abilities to handle stress where his studies were concerned.
I bring additional specialisms to my Yoga Sports Coaching skills. As a qualified yoga instructor (Yoga Alliance RYT-500) and Yoga Sports Coach™️, as well as an AFLCA certified fitness instructor, I am able to meet the needs of athletes and ascertain their needs and abilities to provide instruction that will get results.
