Yoga Sports Coach™

YSS Graduation Date:  May 2011

My introduction to yoga was in the 1990’s whilst competing at the Isle of Man TT races- hampered by pre race and practice nerves, it was suggested that Yoga breathing techniques would help.  Embracing Yoga I quickly became focused, and additionally stronger, having more flexibility and agility to handle the demanding road circuit, becoming at one time the “fastest female passenger”.  My interest in yoga also rocketed, and in 2005 I completed my teacher training diploma and immediately set to work to change the perception of Yoga to sports men and women in the local Fitness First, Nuffield Health and David Lloyd health Clubs. It’s my belief that all athletes from any discipline can benefit from a Sport-Specific Yoga programme.

I graduated in May 2012 and continue to teach both corporate yoga and regularly teaching in well known gyms in Leicester. I deliver workshops to other gyms as an introduction to YSS.  I'm also qualified to teach Fitness Pilates which complements my portfolio. I deliver yoga to equestrians at my local stables, as a pre and post Hack stretch/breath work /balance awareness programme.  I'm a keen football supporter, and have developed a programme from both Footballers and Rugby players. I'm also a  Trained First Aider.

YSS Case Study Research: Motorcycle Enduro-Racer

Can a 10 week yoga specific programme reduce the start line nerves and increase performance of an Motorcycle Enduro Racer?

Results:  An experienced veteran racer, not only improved his confidence on the start line, but improved his race times overall, due to improved breathing capability and fitness.
