The Foundation Course Consists of:

London Training

  • Online training Students explore the course syllabus online in advance of the live training. It includes contact with the YSS tutors and a chance to get to know your peers before the live event. Online component is approximately 24 hours of study.

  • 2-day live training Students receive direct hands-on experience from Hayley Winter, founder of The Institute of Yoga Sports Science® and members of the YSS team. You will reinforce your learning on the Course and demonstrate an initial understanding of the YSS approach by preparing and planning a Micro-Sequence based on your own specific athletic or performance needs. On day 2 you will present your sequence plan to your peers and tutors.

Our Foundation Course is Designed to Help You:

  • Learn how yoga can be used to enhance athletic performance and prevent injury.

  • Understand the Science of Sequencing 101 to help you design a training plan for your own athletic needs. 

  • Develop a deeper understanding of muscle function in relation to work, power, generation of forces and sport specific movements.

  • Develop a practical working knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and neuroscience through the application of functional yoga. 

  • Learn the Science of Breathing 101 and the types of breathing strategies required by athletes for respiratory strength. 

  • Learn about the modern day science of yoga and how to apply the benefits to your sport or training.

  • Learn how our sports-specific yoga techniques and scientific approach can help manage pain and reduce injury in the sport of your choice.

  • Learn the art and science of teaching yoga to athletes.

Certificate of Completion:

This training can be applied towards Continuing Educational Units for the Yoga Alliance USA. 

 

Upon completion of this YSS Foundation Course, you will be eligible to apply for the next YSS certified Yoga Sports Coach™ level to advance your skills.

 

This YSS Foundation Course does not qualify you to teach or present yourself as a certified Yoga Sports Coach™. It does not qualify you as a yoga teacher.

Our Certification Track

Certified Yoga Sports Coachwill give you further in depth knowledge for applying sports-specific yoga to athletes.  You will gain the skills to successfully work with groups/teams.

 

Advanced Yoga Sports Coach is where you advance your skills and knowledge of how to apply the science of yoga directly to an athlete.  You will learn how to do a biomechanical assessment and screening protocol (201) and design a sports-specific yoga program tailored to the athlete’s primary performance objectives.  You will engage in research and undertake a YSS Case Study with an athlete in your chosen sport using the unique YSS research tool enabling you to gather the data to prove that yoga works in your chosen sport.

As this is the only course of its kind that teaches you how to apply the science of yoga in sport, you will be covering material that is not available in other teacher training courses.
